traditional home with large covered outdoor living space
Located on a semi-secluded part of Okanagan Lake this home is designed for outdoor living. The site was extremely restricted in terms of build space - wedged in between lake setbacks and steep rock outcrop behind. Again these challenging sites make interesting opportunities to design creative homes.
The large covered patio is linked to the interior via a window wall system that opens up fully to the kitchen and living areas. The main floor has 12ft high ceilings which were determined by getting decent site lines when entering the house which due to the site terrain is several step higher than the main floor.
Outdoor heaters, roller screens, exterior kitchen and fireplace complete the comfortable outdoor living space that is used by the owners for a surprising number of months each year. The heaters and roller screens and fireplace enable the extended use of this outdoor space. Simple roof geometry and general styling complete this traditional home on the lake that we consider to be premier lakefront living.
