three story home on steep lakefront property
This shingle styled home was built to replace the original house lost in the Okanagan Mountain Park fire of 2003. Situated on a steep site the design takes cognizance of orientation by careful location of critical south facing windows in a predominantly north facing lot - these allow warm sunlight to bathe into parts of the living spaces which help to make a home cheerful and cozy.
With restricted available space on the site an extended patio is achieved by creating a walk-through zone on the east side of the house, separated by large sliding doors to attain privacy when needed. This rear outdoor area is thus strongly linked to the lake patio and as such increases the available entertaining space on the main floor.
